Osteopathy in France: A positive economic balance sheet

For the first time, an economic study assesses the impact of osteopathy in France. After selecting the most solid scientific studies, the economists at Asterès have estimated the costs and benefits of osteopathic consultations for two pathologies: lumbago and cervicalgia.

The 6% of patients who consult an osteopath in addition to the standard course have a higher recovery rate, resulting in an overall economic gain of €67 million per year. This impact can be broken down into €29 million in savings for the CNAM, €51 million in gains for companies and €13 million in additional expenditure for patients and their complementary health insurance. The economic impact of osteopathy on society is therefore positive overall.

ASTERES ETUDES & CONSEIL has been commissioned by the REGISTRE DES OSTEOPATHES DE FRANCE and CBF ASSURANCES to measure the economic impact of osteopathy in France.
